problem med film afspilling

jeg kan ikke afspille video i fuldskærm med vlc. programmet lukker bare ned.

i terminal ser det således ud:

hvad kan jeg gøre for at fixe det ? den lukker også ofte filmafspiller på samme måde. der skriver den sådan:

så vidt jeg kan læse mig frem til er det x window der er noget galt med ?!
hvad gør jeg for at løse problemet ?
