ubuntu 14.04 64bit
Jeg kan ikke få crossover cable ethernet file sharing til at virke mellem en debian 8 og ubuntu 14.04 computer til at virke.
Derfor har jeg prøvet diverse ting. Dette resulterede i en error message vedr. /etc/samba/samba.config filen. Denne slettede jeg med gksudo nautilus. Derefter virkede det slet ikke. Med synaptic package manager complete removal af system-config-samba. I synaptic er der nu 17 software installerede pakker, hvis jeg søger på 'samba'. Hvordan foretager jeg complete removal af alt samba, for derefter at installere igen? Jeg bemærkede, at 'local network share' bruger system-config-samba. Fordi hvis complete removal af den pakke, kan man ikke lave en 'local network share' af en folder. Tak.

Prøv at dele dit problem lidt op, i samme paragraf starter du med ethernet kabler og afslutter med pakken håndtering i Synaptic (samt en blanding af engelsk og dansk).
1: Sæt dit netværk op. Tjek at det virker ved at pinge en maskine fra den anden.
2: Hvilken fejl får du? Har du oprettet en ny, og korrekt, konfiguration af samba?
3: hvis du vil afinstallere alle pakker der omhandler samba så purge alle pakker, og installer dem efterfølgende igen. Det kunne dog lyde som om det eneste du ønsker er at genkonfiguere dem.

Det ændredede ikke fejlmeldingen.
Forbindelsen med ethernet lan cable mellem computerne virker sandsynligvis. Når cable tilsluttes meddeler både ubuntu og debian, at der er en wired connection. Fordi jeg ikke kunne få folder sharing til at virke, fordi der fremkom en access denied message, begyndte jeg at nano editere en config file. Da det gav fejlmeldinger, deletede jeg config filen. Hvilket sandsynligvis er grunden til, at når jeg click 'browser network' fremkommer icons for den anden computer ikke i nautilus. Når jeg click 'browser network' og 'windows network' på debian, fremkommer følgende fejlmelding= unable to access location Failed to retrieve share list from server. No such file or directory. Når jeg vil 'local network share' en folder på ubuntu, fremkommer en fejlmelding.
Jeg vil have samba default filer igen, så ubuntu ses i debian 'network browser'.

Tak for svar. Det viste sig, at der ikke var nogen samba folder eller config file i etc.
Jeg testede
Derefter var samba fjernet i synaptic package manager. Når man første gang foretager 'share local network' højreklikker man den folder, man vil dele. Derefter fremkommer et vindue og man installerer software. Genstarter computeren. Derefter højreklikker man igen folderen og vælger 'share local network'. Derefter er folderen markeret med 2 pile.
Efter ovenstående command, højreklikkede jeg folderen. Option 'share local network' vises ikke. I synaptic package manager var samba ikke installeret. Det gjorde jeg. Men man kan ikke vælge 'share local network', når man højreklikker en folder. Dvs 'share local network' er ikke tilbage på samme måde.
Efter ovenstående command og installering af samba med synaptic package manager, kom der igen en samba folder i etc. Med en smb.conf.

Problemet er at det er to vidt forskellige ting.
Det du har installeret er sambaserveren, som kræver at du konfigurerer den igennem /etc/samba/smb.conf. Du kan følge min guide her: http://www.vidas.dk/guides/fildeling.html.
Den funktion du søger virker så vidt jeg ved kun for filer i din hjemmemappe, og funktionaliteten er begrænset.
