Synaptic vil ikke starte fra menu,

Synaptic vil ikke starte fra menu, men fint fra terminalvindue.

dvs "sudo synaptic" virker. Terminalvinduet fortæller ikke noget.

Formentlig fordi Synaptic kun kan startes som root.

Ja! System --> Administration --> Synaptic

Formentlig fordi Synaptic kun kan startes med som root.

Det tror jeg ikke. Denne PC er installeret for et år siden og har virket til dato. Tilsvarende mine øvrige PCer.
I terminalvinduet fås følgende...

I "Menuen" startes Synaptic med følgende...
